Diagnosis on a higher level
CBCT (3D)
In our practice, we use three-dimensional X-ray diagnostics (CBCT) prior to every implantation and NICO/FDOK operation. We utilize MORITA’s CBCT technology, which allows us to examine the jawbone for foreign bodies or osteolysis down to the smallest detail, and to have a comprehensive understanding of all anatomical structures in advance of implantation.
This technique is particularly useful in the field of immediate implantation with ceramic implants. In some cases, inflammation and cysts at the apex of root-treated teeth can already be seen on a conventional panoramic X-ray. However, they can only be clearly diagnosed with a three-dimensional X-ray image. In general, a Cone beam Scan should always be available for interference field diagnosis or planned implantations. Particularly, an FDOK cannot be diagnosed clearly without a cone beam scan.
A CBCT is absolutely necessary to accurately determine the height, length, and width of the affected area, and to prepare for the operation, significantly reducing the risk of damaging surrounding sensitive tissues and nerves. Since root-treated teeth should be directly replaced by a ceramic implant, whenever possible, a cone beam scan should also be used in this situation, to maximize patient safety.

CaviTau
“Can inflammation in the jawbone be diagnosed without radiation?”
Yes! We are now using CaviTau ultrasound before a planned NICO/FDOK operation, to ensure extra safety for the planned treatment in addition to cone beam. It’s particularly useful for the diagnosis of potential cavitation recurrences or to check the bone around healed ceramic implants. This device should be an essential component of any biological dental practice.
Your advantage: determination of bone quality, radiation-free pinpointing of possible cavities and silent inflammation in the jawbone, radiation-free postoperative control of bone healing, and assurance of implant success.
aMMP-8
The aMMP-8 test is probably the most internationally recognized (bio)marker test for evaluating oral-systemic health. The connection between the mouth and body, referred to as the Mouth-Body Connection, can now be measured completely painlessly in real-time in saliva for the first time with aMMP-8.
For doctors and patients, this is a huge leap forward in personalized medicine, as we obtain an
objective measurement for assessing the health of teeth, implants, and the oral immune system.
For us and our patients, this offers a significant time advantage, as we can detect early-stage problems with vital teeth, periodontally-damaged teeth, or titanium implants so that we can take targeted and preventive measures to protect our patients’ health as best as possible.
